Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I walked through my
home and made a video, with an oral narrative, of every room in my home. What
is the advantage of eFamilyVault for me?
A: If you should incur a loss, you would need to
retrieve the video and provide it to the insurance adjuster or police
department. Since it's a video of your possessions all mixed together,
somebody would need to isolate a picture of each of your possessions,
write a description of the item, and estimate its value. It's a tough
and lengthy task when you've just lost everything you own.
With an eFamilyVault Personal Inventory, your property is already itemized.
There are individual pictures, serial numbers, and estimated values. If you
have a loss, you can email or send the information to the insurance adjuster
and/or police department, and they can start recovery immediately.
Q: Do I need a digital
camera to utilize the eFamilyVault service?
A: No. Although a digital camera expedites the
process, you can use your film camera to take pictures of your items. When
you take your film in for processing, simply request a "Photo Disc."
Your photos will be returned to you with a floppy disc or CD ROM containing
your photos. A disposable camera works great for capturing images of your
items!
Q: I have a complete
inventory of my possessions on my computer. I copied it to a CD. What is the
advantage of an eFamilyVault membership for me?
A: The answer is: Accessibility. At a
time of need, you can access your inventory from any computer that has internet
access. Or, you can have a guest account already set up. Then, all you need to
do is give your Insurance Agent/Company/Adjuster the User ID and Password of
the guest account, and you will be on your way to settling your claim.
